About David Montgomery
Project leader and Senior Scientist (Scientist 5) in laser-plasma interaction physics for over 38 years, developed single hot spot LPI technique, led development of X-ray phase contrast imaging for ICF and its application to dynamic materials experiments, developed imaging X-ray Thomson scattering of dense plasmas, and developed neutron phase contrast imaging at a spallation neutron source. Led several research teams that have made numerous discoveries and first observations in plasma physics. Elected Fellow of the APS in 2004 for his research in laser plasma instabilities. Author on over 170 highly cited refereed journal publications in plasma physics, inertial confinement fusion, and diagnostic development.
