New venture, next adventure!In 2019, I co-founded Mitosis Digital Technologies Ltd with Tony Beamish after many years working together in the digital construction space. We had a clear goal: to provide practical, intelligent visual planning support to complex Energy and Renewables projects.We saw a gap in the market where Gantt charts and 3D models weren’t enough. Our answer was 4D construction visualisation – digitally rehearsing the construction sequence to optimise schedules, reduce risk, and improve stakeholder communication.Since launching Mitosis, we have supported a wide range of greenfield, brownfield and turnaround projects, bringing clarity to shutdowns, improving safety during SIMOPs, and helping clients understand what needs to happen, when, and why.We also support digital twin development, reviewing engineering data and 3D models to ensure they align with project requirements.Starting a consultancy just before a global pandemic brought its challenges. We quickly adapted to remote working, built trust with new clients, and demonstrated the value of 4D planning in fast-changing environments. Through it all, we stuck to our core principles: technically sound work, clear communication, and genuine client value.My role is a mix of hands-on delivery and business development. I create detailed 4D simulations and collaborate with planning and site teams to visualise work fronts, optimise sequences, and assess safety risks. Whether it\'s a complex turnaround or a new development, the goal is always the same: to help clients deliver safe, efficient projects with fewer surprises.One of the most rewarding aspects is seeing how visualisation transforms understanding. When a schedule comes to life, everyone from engineers to executives can align, see potential issues, and make better decisions.
