ABOUT DAVID METCALFE

David joined Ramboll in 2024 as Drinking Water Practice Leader (U.K), working within the Global Advanced Water Treatment team. Within this role David provides advanced water treatment consultancy. manages water and waste water treatment business development activities in the U.K, and collaborates with other parts of the Ramboll business such as Environment and Health, Energy and Management Consulting. Prior to joining Ramboll he spent 5 years with Nanostone Water (a ceramic membrane manufacturer), acting as Vice President (U.K.), with responsibility for the U.K. market including business development and direction of activities related to regulatory, pilot scale demonstrations, and full scale water treatment applications. Additionally, David had a wider global role in proposal development and as a technical leader assisting pilot and full scale applications, and application / process development initiatives. Prior to joining Nanostone he gained broad experience in water supply during a 20 year career with the U.K. utility, South West Water (part of Pennon Group Plc.), with specialisms in water quality, regulatory / public health and water treatment process optimisation. During this employment, David undertook an undergraduate and postgraduate degree and became a Chartered Scientist. David led research and assessments of innovative technologies centered around ceramic membrane processes (linked to a MSc by Research with Cranfield University) at SWW. Subsequently he acted as a technical expert supporting the design, build and commissioning of the first large scale ceramic membrane plant for municipal drinking water in the U.K- Mayflower Water Treatment Works (90 MLD).
