   Provides senior-level leadership for program and project engineering activities at the Center to ensure the technical excellence required to meet the goals and objectives for all NASA Mission Directorates. Collaborates with Headquarters, other Centers, and external organizations in defining and developing Agency engineering standards. Leads the Center in defining, documenting, and insuring compliance with engineering standards and processes, consistent with Agency requirements. Provides leadership for project major milestone reviews and ensures the quality of engineering products through lower level design reviews and peer reviews. Utilizing extensive systems engineering and technical leadership experience sets engineering standards for, and reviews progress of, highly multi-disciplinary engineering activities. These engineering activities span the entire project life cycle from initial system architecture and requirements definition through system detailed design, integration, testing, launch and operations. Advocates and facilitates the integration of mission safety and technical excellence in support of high risk, inventive engineering contributions to agency mission success. Serves as a national authority and Agency resource in systems engineering for complex systems development activities and flight hardware projects.• Responsible for leading the center readiness assessment review process for all LaRC-led flight projects and projects for which Langley serves as.Technical Authority. Serves as the Center Director’s delegate at the all LCR readiness assessments for these flight projects.• Responsible for overall leadership of the Center’s engineering technical authority process for LaRC hosted programs, project elements, and activities, to include policy direction and technical authority process implementation; and advises the Center Director on the resolution of deviations/waivers to institutional requirements and the resolution of dissenting opinions.
