ABOUT DAVID MCFARLANE

I joined EllisDon Toronto’s Estimating Department as a co-op student in 1996 and am proud to share my story of career growth like many of my colleagues at EllisDon.Over the course of my time at EllisDon, I have had the privilege of holding several field operations positions in our Toronto Building Operations group. I also relocated to Winnipeg for a year in as a Project Manager. This valuable field and project management experience across the country steadily led me to the role of Director of Construction Management in Toronto, in 2004.When EllisDon asked me to venture out to British Columbia and run its Vancouver office in 2007, I took it as a humbling gesture of trust. I joined the region as the Vice President and Area Manager for the Pacific Region. My team and I were guided by a tremendous level of confidence and drive as we set out to build relationships with new clients and trades. We wanted to promise them that we were here to stay. Since then, our Vancouver team has grown significantly. We have established our brand in British Columbia, earned the respect of the local subtrade communities, and ensured that EllisDon’s reputation in the provincial market is one that represents transparency and accountability. With consistent coaching, support, and learning opportunities, my peers and team members set my team and myself up to realize a grand scale goal of diversification on the West Coast that once was merely a hopeful idea.My story of opportunity and growth is one that many at EllisDon have.
