ABOUT DAVID MARKWELL

I am an experienced, thoughtful, and strategic business and technology leader with a relentless focus on delivering robust results. As the Executive Vice President and Chief Technology and Analytics Officer at Loblaw Companies Limited, I have the privilege of driving the company’s strategy with technology by solving big problems through creative solutions, leveraging a highly talented and engaged team. I’m a member of the Management Board and an Officer of PC Bank, collaborating closely with both Loblaw and PC Bank’s Boards of Directors.I am a strong advocate of our Loblaw ESG initiatives – from reducing Loblaw’s carbon footprint by collaborating with peers in supply chain and real estate to building a culture of inclusion and belonging through our DEI efforts. I’m committed to talent management and succession planning and mentor high-potential talent across the organization, ensuring a robust pipeline of future leaders. As a voracious reader and life-long learner, education is very important to me. In addition to my own educational pursuits, I’m an Adjunct Professor at the Smith School of Business at Queen\'s University and the Schulich School of Business at York University, where I teach Technology Strategy, Innovation and Applications of AI at the graduate level. When I’m not working, I’m either training, running, or cycling. In fact, if I had an extra hour in my day, I’d likely spend it training. It’s good for my focus and my health.
