ABOUT DAVID MAC DOUGALL
I am a senior editor and journalist with 20+ years of experience leading newsroom teams and commissioning original journalism across TV, digital, and social media. My career has taken me from war reporting in Iraq to managing journalists and resources in Europe, South Asia and the Middle East. I specialise in running editorial teams, setting strategic priorities, and delivering high-impact storytelling on complex issues such as geopolitics, international security, climate, transport, health and society. At Euronews, our team increased English-language digital traffic by tens of millions of page views in a year with a focus on original reportage, while at DC Thomson I led a team of political journalists covering Westminster and Holyrood, producing innovative election coverage that reached new digital audiences. As founder of News Now Finland, I grew an award-winning independent outlet to reach half a million people each month, and at The Associated Press I led cross-format teams of journalists covering some of the biggest stories in Europe, Latin America, Asia and the Middle East. I am passionate about fostering diverse perspectives, mentoring early-career journalists, and building a culture of editorial excellence. Studying for an MSc in International Journalism at the University of Stirling has allowed me to combine new academic insight with deep newsroom experience.
