About David Umulis
Dr. David M. Umulis is a nationally recognized academic leader, systems thinker, and institution builder. Based out of Indianapolis and West Lafayette where he has been on the faculty for 17 years, Dr. Umulis serves as the inaugural Senior Vice Provost and Chief Academic Officer for Indianapolis. In this role he led the successful launch of Purdue’s new urban campus in Indianapolis. This is a new model for higher ed that is centered on experiential education through industry partnerships that bring real-world experiences into the classroom and brings the classroom into industry by launching academic programs physically alongside businesses and industrial partners. He is also founder and executive director of the NSF EMBRIO Institute, a research institute that spans seven universities integrating AI, compute, and biomedical engineering to discover mechanisms of cellular defense and wound repair. Dr. Umulis brings a collaborative, mission-driven leadership style that builds strong and high functioning teams to implement vision that changes the landscape in higher ed. Join our team in Indy!
