ABOUT DAVID LOCKE

David joined Stockwell Engineers in 2012 after practicing landscape architecture in the Nashville, TN region. His design experience in Nashville focused primarily on commercial and institutional development, urban design, and detailed planting designs for multiple facilities throughout the southeastern United States. As a LEED accredited professional in Neighborhood Development, many of his projects focused on using sustainable design techniques and coordinating with multiple disciplines to create a final product that was not only unique but also functional within the landscape.A graduate of Iowa State University and native of the upper Midwest, David draws upon his design experiences from various regions of the United States to bring an expertise to each project that focuses on place-making. David believes that outdoor spaces are works of art within the landscape that are created through not only plants, but also colors, shapes, and the volumes of elements unique to each space. Each project is inspired by its context, and a design that responds and compliments its surroundings is important to keeping people coming back to and using outdoor spaces. At Stockwell Engineers, David’s design interests range from master plans to detailed planting designs. As a lead designer, he works with clients to set a vision for each project and strives to bring about that vision to reality through successful project management, creative design, and client and public interaction. David values clients’ trust and commits to developing and maintaining those relationships even after the project is built. His design creativity and experience includes park master planning, recreational trail planning, community sports facility needs assessments, sports facility planning and design, site design, streetscape design, and planting design.
