About David Liebelt

David A. Liebelt, M.D, Ph.D, F.A.C.S, F.A.A.O.S. specializes in hip and knee reconstruction and is dedicated to getting his patients back to doing the things they enjoy.Dr. Liebelt is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon licensed in the state of Wisconsin. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons. He has published in scientific and clinical journals, has presented at orthopaedic surgery conferences, and works closely with the orthopaedic surgery industry to improve devices, techniques, and clinical outcomes.Dr. Liebelt earned his Bachelor in Science Degree in Biomedical Engineering from Northwestern University in 2001. He then attended the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University in New York City. There he trained in the Medical Scientist Training Program and earned both an M.D. and a Ph.D. in Physiology and Biophysics. In medical school he was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, a professional medical organization that recognizes and advocates for excellence in scholarship and the highest ideals in the profession of medicine. He stayed in New York City for his orthopaedic surgery residency training at Montefiore Medical Center and Jacobi Medical Center. He was awarded Outstanding Anatomist in his orthopaedic surgery residency. Under the guidance of partners of the late John Insall, one of the pioneers of modern joint replacement, Dr. Liebelt completed his orthopaedic surgery fellowship in knee and hip reconstruction with the Insall Scott Kelly Institute at Northwell Health - Lenox Hill Hospital.Before Dr. Liebelt began his medical training he was valedictorian of his high school in Idaho Falls, Idaho and was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. When not working, Dr. Liebelt enjoys skiing, biking, and boating with his wife and son.
