ABOUT DAVID LAVKULIK

I am a Toronto based mediator-lawyer.I have been fortunate enough to work full time in mediation since 2013 and have acted as mediator in nearly mediations. Previously, I spent 19 years working as a litigator on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants/insurers, having been called to the Ontario Bar in 1995. As a litigator, i appeared in all levels of court in Ontario, including trials, appeals, Costs hearings, and what were then FSCO arbitrations. I am also a partner at Devry Smith Frank LLP, who I joined in always believed that my litigation experience in acting for both sides has given me a valuable insight into the perspectives of both sides which has been advantageous to facilitating settlements. My work as a mediator has been described as “persistent”, “patient”, and a “demonstration of the real art of mediation”.My mediation practice has largely echoed my litigation practice, therefore largely involving claims in Personal Injury-Insurance, Employment, Medical Malpractice, Abuse, Professional Negligence, Estates, Real Estate, and General Commercial litigation.I am also a longtime musician and songwriter. I have written and recorded dozens of songs, and am a member of several songwriting organizations including Songtown, NSAI, and SAC.
