ABOUT DAVID KOVALCHICK
I am a highly qualified and compassionate Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I offer over several years of clinical experience, with specialization in severe and persistent mental illness (SPMI) and addictions. I am adept at providing individual, group, and couples counseling to meet the diverse needs of clients with various levels of trauma/behavioral difficulties; utilizing evidence-based practices that enhance client wellness and quality of life; and facilitating effective treatment planning and treatment planning techniques. I have outstanding interpersonal communication skills demonstrated by successful engagement in patient care interactions and interactions with diverse population groups including, but not limited to, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy CBT, adolescents, adults, veterans, and families. I enjoy working closely with my colleagues.Specifically, I am a Substance Use Disorder Counselor at Greater Cincinnati Behavioral Health Services (GCBHS) in Amelia, Ohio. GCB is a nonprofit community mental health agency. I serve individuals who may have a co-morbid mental health disorder (SPMI) as defined by: Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and other similar disorders) alongside a gambling, addictions, alcohol, and/or other drug use disorders. I complete diagnostic assessments and treatment plans for clients seeking these services. I facilitate therapeutic cognitive behaviorally based groups for mental health as well as alcohol, other drug treatment, and various addictions. I conduct individual and family counseling sessions to identify potential problems that may interfere with the recovery process; in turn, helping develop appropriate treatment for the client. I make appropriate referrals for further counseling and services to improve the client’s quality of life and improve the likelihood of recovery. I provide referrals to case management, linkage and/or referrals to appropriate schools, employment bureaus, housing, health facilities, or other community resources. I keep accurate and up-to-date clinical records meeting agency, state, and accrediting board standards.
