During my time at Upland Software, I have proven my ability as a design leader. I have taken charge of the design direction for Upland’s Knowledge Center Management (KCM) business unit (BU), while overseeing two Junior Designers as we collaborate to address the design needs of the five products within the BU. In my player/coach role, I have managed the skillsets of my supporting designers and adjusted their assignments appropriately, to not only best utilise their skills but enable them to grow.At Upland, I work directly on three of the five products within my BU - Rant and Rave, BA Insights and RightAnswers. I work alongside three separate product teams, gathering requirements, defining user personas, mapping user journeys, creating low-fidelity wireframes, workshopping with stakeholders, designing high fidelity design resources and supporting from handover to delivery. Balancing the various needs and constraints of each product is a challenge, but one I have managed well along with my other responsibilities.I go above and beyond to not only ask what needs done, but to understand why we are doing it and how we can do it better. These sentiments extend beyond my design work and deliverables to the entire product development process as I have fully integrated myself within each product team I work with to ensure an efficient and sustainable delivery pipeline. This also extends to consulting on product strategy from the perspective of design, with the aim to bring the voice of the user to our long-term planning and ultimately achieve a positive user experience in our products, now and in the future.
