ABOUT DAVID KELSALL

Currently the Superintendent for Public Protection Unit (PPU)- responsibility for Rape and Serious Sexual Offending, Modern Slavery, organised Immigration, Domestic Abuse, Stalking, Adult Safeguarding and Management of Sexual and Violent Offenders. Previously the Staff Officer to Chief Constable Chris Noble and support to his NPCC portfolio - Protest.I am trained and accredited as a Specialist Tactical Firearms Commander, Bronze Public Order Commander and Post Incident Manager.Throughout my career I have always thrived on new challenges and learning different areas of policing, which has included Neighbourhood policing, Force Control Room, Operations, Custody, varied command levels in armed policing / Public Order / CBRN and training delivery.My passion, drive for public service and protection of the public has never changed since 2001 when I joined Staffordshire Police. The diverse role and command functions within policing ensures no two days are the same and the rewards of protecting the public, gives true job satisfaction. Having the privilege to lead, motivate, develop teams of officers/staff and to be in a position which gives me the responsibility and opportunity to shape the future of policing has given me another level to my passion and allows me to thread that passion and drive throughout the organisation. I am a strong advocate of good / positive communication and leadership style, the way in which we create a modern day police force and environment, ensuring our teams still maintain those high standards but also have the confidence/reassurance to have a voice, autonomy and enjoyable work environment. That has not always been the case over the years with legacy leadership styles and cultures. Simple foundations of look after and motivate our people who will be the ones who look after and protect the public we serve.
