About David Jones
Dear Hiring Committee,I am excited to apply for the position working with deflection programs and helping people get the care they need. My background in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, and working with criminal justice systems has prepared me well for this role. While working as a Transition Specialist at Multnomah County Jail and as a DOC Intake Specialist at Coffee Creek, I saw how hard it can be to start new programs in jails and prisons. I worked directly with people in custody, helping them create release plans, connect to recovery services, and access community resources. These experiences taught me the importance of clear communication and teamwork to make programs successful. At Central City Concern, I worked with a new program focused on people with severe mental illness and those experiencing homelessness as they returned to the community from jails and prisons. This work showed me how difficult it is for these individuals to navigate recovery and reentry. It also gave me a better understanding of the fentanyl crisis and its impact on these vulnerable populations. This experience strengthened my commitment to harm reduction and supporting programs that meet people where they are.As President and Clinical Director of Siloam International, I ran programs that helped people struggling with trauma and addiction. I worked to secure funding, train staff, and create programs that fit the needs of the community. I also gained valuable experience managing projects, tracking results, and ensuring programs met their goals. This role excites me because it focuses on helping people avoid the criminal justice system and instead connect to behavioral health services that can change their lives. I know how important it is to work closely with peer support teams, train providers, and build strong community partnerships to create lasting change.I am a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor with a Master’s Degree in Conflict Resolution. I have hands-on experience in harm reduction, project management, and working across systems to improve services. I am organized, hardworking, and passionate about helping people get the care they need.Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss further how I can help your program succeed.Sincerely,David A. Jones, MA, CADC QMHP
