David-James Gonzales (DJ) is a community-engaged interdisciplinary historian, dedicated teacher and mentor, and author of Breaking Down the Walls of Segregation: Mexican American Grassroots Politics and Civil Rights in Orange County, California (Oxford University Press, 2025). His research, teaching, and publications focus on race/ethnicity, migration, and social movements with an emphasis on Latino (a/x/e)-Chicano (a/x/e) communities and politics.
