David first became involved in the hotels sector at the Valuation Office in Stoke-on-Trent where he started his career and worked for ten years, valuing hotels for rating, rental and capital taxation purposes. From 1998 to 2004, by then working within the Christie Group, he developed his experience across all hospitality sectors cementing relationships with many of the main high street banks and carrying out hotel valuations throughout the UK before joining Colliers International as a valuer in the Hotels department. David now heads up the UK Hotels Valuation and Professional Services team for Colliers International. Though he spends the majority of his time valuing hotels for secured lending purposes, David regularly presents to operators, bankers, accountants, solicitors and other property professionals and operators on matters affecting the hotel industry. David also has extensive experience in rating, landlord & tenant and expert witness work, the latter including the preparation of evidence for court proceedings including the Valuation Tribunal, Lands Tribunal, County Court and the High Court. During his time at Colliers International David has valued and advised on several billions of pounds worth of hotel stock, mostly throughout the UK and Ireland though with some overseas work in addition.He has also provided advice on the valuation and feasibility of hotel sites and developments as well as hotel investments that are subject to lease or management agreements.
