Founder and CEO of Driver First Assist (DFA), a not-for-profit organisation addressing a long-recognised gap in road safety: what happens in the critical minutes before emergency services arrive at a road traffic collision.Drawing on several decades of experience in transport, logistics, driver safety and incident response, I developed DFA not as a training product, but as a scalable post-crash response model. The focus is on equipping professional and at-work drivers — who are often first on scene — to provide a structured, safe and effective first response that supports emergency services rather than replaces them.Key areas of work include:Developing a nationally scalable model for structured bystander response at road traffic collisionsWorking in partnership with emergency services, government, academia and industryAddressing the inequality in first-aid provision for at-work drivers within existing health & safety frameworksAuthoring the White Paper Safer Roads: Stronger Communities, aligned with Vision Zero’s Safe System and the UK National Road Safety StrategyAdvancing the case for embedding post-crash response within employer responsibility, policy and enforcement practiceMy current focus is on how post-crash response capability can be embedded at scale across fleets, supply chains and public services to reduce injury severity, save lives and improve outcomes for those affected by serious road collisions.
