WORK HISTORY
Project Manager (Urban Planning & Transportation) @Ville de Montréal
Montreal, QC, CA
Transportation infrastructure projects must take into account the varying needs of diverse users. Vehicular traffic, public transit, cyclists and pedestrians usually have to use the same roadways, traffic signals and facilities to one degree or another. Unfortunately, transportation design and planning can often become siloed at the municipal level, as specialized design teams are not always aware of the global impact that their projects may have on the transportation network. My role as a senior transportation engineer and project manager in the City\'s Department of Urban Planning and Transportation is to evaluate proposed transportation infrastructure projects from a holistic perspective. I am tasked with identifying potential impacts, and insuring that different teams communicate and are aware of each other\'s projects, so that they may act in concert to address potential impacts and optimize plans and designs. My previous experience in the private sector, which allowed me to work on a wide variety of different transportation projects, has made me ideally suited for this position.I am also tasked with awarding transportation study contracts to private sector consultants, supporting and communicating with said consultants and finally reviewing their work. Here again, my previous private sector experience has made me ideally suited for this role.
