About David Helling

I am a passionate life-long learner. I have been fortunate enough to have worked in nuclear power for over fifty years. I am committed to advancing teaching and learning in the nuclear power generation industry. I am a training and educational professional at Westinghouse Electric Company in Pittsburgh, PA. I have served in various training roles during my 43 year Westinghouse career. I was the Westinghouse Nuclear Training Manager from 1992 to 2001. I am currently the Senior Training Advisor and a Fellow Engineer for Westinghouse. I am actively working on incorporating Mind, Brain, and Education interventions into our teaching and learning programs at Westinghouse and to bringing reach-informed teaching and learning interventions from Mind, Brain, and Education Science to the nuclear industry. I am also am also an adjunct faculty member at the University of Pittsburgh where I teach four graduate nuclear engineering courses. I served as a nuclear trained officer in the United States Navy for nine years before coming to WestinghouseI teach nuclear power plant operations and instrument and control systems.
