Experience
Chief Rampart Search and Rescue
May 1973 — Present · Adams County, CO, US
Chief of Rampart Search and Rescue for Adams and Lincoln Counties in Colorado. We are based out of Adams County, with over 40 rescuers. We provide training to the public on safety awareness like; First Aid and AED, winter driving when I-70 is closed, what to do if you get lost, hug a tree, do not trust your GPS and more. We have conducted training for Public Safety agencies as well in several different areas.Additionally our search and rescue team is available 24/7 providing our services at no charge. We are a 100% volunteer non-profit agency; all donations stay with us and go directly for rescue operations. Our internal teams - Bike, ATV, 4x4, Dive, K9 and Drone. With severe weather in the summer, stranded motorists in the winter, along with missing people, we stay active year round.I’m also the radio officer for the rescue team for coordinating, updating, and reviewing our FCC licenses to adhere to regulatory standards. Review all radios, parts inventories, test, and repair equipment. We have several repeaters in the Denver metro area in the surrounding mountains that cover our service area.Over my career I have been asked to help engineer several public safety 2-way radio systems for Public Safety agencies in several states. I have helped with their communications needs ranging from FCC licensing to radio programming. The radio systems have included VHF, UHF and 800MHz, that included installation of base stations, mobiles, and repeater sites. I have been a consultant for Public Safety spectrum and have acquired FCC licenses for SAR, Law Enforcement, EMS, and fire. Being a former Deputy Sheriff, Sr. Dispatcher and currently a Search and Rescue First Responder, I have a unique prospective in the field of operations and communication needs for day-to-day operations, and during emergencies like disasters.
