About David Groos

Founded in 2002 Great Opportunities gives High-Risk Kids a chance to succeed. Opening doors of opportunity to children that will not have a chance to experience many of life\'s opportunities. Great Opportunities focuses on using the aquatic environment as its classroom. We educate and support environmental education, offer resources & services and hands-on workshops to empower and equip youth to connect to nature. As community advocates in education and in the environment, we have brought a learn to swim, bicycle, and environmental beautification to the underserved. With an emphasis on youth, Great Opportunities has founded a leadership program that will assist the youth for years to come.

   Since its inception Great Opportunities goal has been to provide under privileged kids the opportunity to achieve something special. Capitalizing on over 30 years of ocean and aquatic experience, we have designed our programs to focus on two areas: teaching kids how to swim and educating them on the Coastal/Ocean Environment.As the GO season approaches we are working to maintain at current levels the programs we have created, and in a year when the economy has presented all of us with challenges for our own families, we are committed to doing all that we can to see that our kids continue to get the help they need. This summer our kids will have the opportunity to visit the Dana Point Marine Institute, as well as many of the coastal tidal pools in the area. We have been fortunate again this year to arrange a deep sea fishing adventure aboard a commercial fishing boat. On the beach the activities will focus on water safety and include lessons in Body Surfing, Boogie Boarding and Surfing.
