About David Grachen
I have nearly 40 years of experience working in the transportation and environmental field. My environmental expertise spans the broad range of human and natural environmental laws and regulations governing the development of Federal-aid transportation projects. My professional experience ranges from the development, review, and approval of NEPA documents to managing a multi-disciplinary staff of environmentalist specialists, transportation planners, realty specialists, and engineers engaged in developing and implementing transportation projects. Prior to my FHWA retirement in May 2021, I was the Agency\'s national subject matter expert on Section 4(f) compliance and the NEPA Assignment Program. As a Senior Environmental Manager at Edwards-Pitman Environmental Inc, I continue to use my environmental expertise to resolve complex environmental compliance issues and expedite transportation project delivery. I am an NHI-certified Master Trainer, am well-versed in Adult Learning Principals, and have delivered environmental training courses in each of the 50 States. I am also a certified facilitator and my communication skills are one of my greatest strengths.
