As a Research Assistant in the School of Biology, I evaluated the efficacy of four repurposed drugs used in combination with meropenem as resistance breakers to develop potential new antibiotic treatments for infections caused by multi-drug resistant Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Klebsiella pneumoniae. I conducted over 50 minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) tests and time-kill assays to assess synergistic inhibition of bacterial strains, and demonstrated the in vivo treatment efficacy of two antibiotic–drug combinations using Galleria mellonella caterpillar models. Through this work, I developed strong skills in experimental design, data handling, and scientific communication
