Initiatives• Introduce the concept of neurodiversity to area companies, or help improve their current initiatives, always reinforcing the value and benefits of working with people with disabilities.• Volunteer on the DEI (Diversity Equity & Inclusion) committee for Detroit SHRM (Society of Human Resource Management), the local branch of the largest professional membership organization in the world. I am the only person on the committee representing people with disabilities to raise awareness and help local HR people understand their employment challenges and provide guidance on how to help. I am spearheading an effort for our group to host fireside chats at some of the largest companies in the area to promote important DEI issues.• Spearheading the effort to recommend and help all local municipalities to create an Office/Committee for Disability Affairs which would provide support and be a primary resource of assistance for families of individuals with disabilities. As of now, only a few exist. EVERY municipality should have one and I will be the impetus to get them started.• Working with federal Congresspersons on my idea for common sense changes to the Social Security Administration laws for adults with disabilities that would appeal to both political parties and would positively affect all US citizens.• Have been invited by some of the largest local companies (e.g. Ford, Masco, Trinity Health, and Mercedes Benz Financial Services) to raise awareness about the challenges of people with disabilities to their employees and speak about the work LLEC does on their behalf.• Oversaw one of the most advanced work skills training programs in the world that is designed specifically for adults with disabilities and has helped place more people with disabilities in Michigan into skilled IT positions than most organizations (including primary agencies from the counties and State of Michigan).
