ABOUT DAVID FANNING

David Fanning is the Senior Director-IG for Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA). Under his leadership, planned and major gift budgeted revenue has more than quadrupled (FY15 through FY25). PVA received the 10th largest gift in the US in 2013. In 2021, he secured the largest planned gift in PVA\'s history. In 2023, Dave structured PVA\'s most generous gift from an individual.During his four decades in institutional advancement, he has personally helped to secure nearly $3 billion for charitable organizations.Prior to joining Paralyzed Veterans, Dave was a National Director for the March of Dimes. In this capacity, he was responsible for securing over $30 million in pledges and gifts. These included the largest outright and planned gifts in the organization\'s history.Prior to the March of Dimes, he was the Executive Director of the Campaign for the White House Fellows Foundation. Dave successfully launched and completed the organization\'s first capital campaign.He also served as Chief Development Officer of the Sheppard Pratt Health System, President of the United Methodist Homes Trust, and in Senior Development positions at Fordham Univeristy and Binghamton University. He was one of the youngest graduates in the history of the State University of New York at Binghamton. He received his degree after only 19 months of study. He holds a Masters from the George Washington University School of Business and Public Management and an advanced degree in Business Administration. His Masters project detailed the difference in bond ratings between two adjoining counties with similar populations and revenue capacity. This study helped modify the methods utilized in municipal bond underwriting. Later, Dave\'s Dissertation in Business Administration (\"Postmortem Trust Reformations\"), produced a favorable court ruling in Pennsylvania. He has testified several times before Congress on planned giving and tax issues. A recognized leader in advancement, Dave was a founder of the National Committee on Planned Giving. He has presented before AFP, CASE, AAHA, NYAHSA, ABA, FASB and other groups. He served as Planned Giving Consultant at the United Nations helping to structure and secure their first $1 billion gift. He is certified (CFRE) by the Association of Fund Raising Professionals (AFP) and is also Certified as a Development Executive. Dave is a frequent contributor to influencing and professional platforms including those focused on charitable giving and Forbes Expert Panels.
