About David Renner
I got into law so that I could make a difference. Always a proponent for what is right, I thought that being an advocate for justice and a guardian of the system that provides equality and protection for all would be the kind of profession that would get me up in the morning. I was right. Through my focus on labor and employment, I’ve been fortunate to become a trusted advisor to employers, executives, and human resources (HR) professionals in multiple industries, including construction, energy, financial services, healthcare, higher education, hospitality, manufacturing, oil and gas, and retail. I’ve successfully overseen hundreds of cases and claims and litigated nearly every facet of labor and employment law. I have extensive expertise defending Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) and state enforcement actions, employment class actions, Fair Labor and Standards Act (FLSA) collective actions, and restrictive covenant matters.I am a Founding Partner in Pierson Ferdinand LLP’s Litigation and Employment, Labor, and Benefits Practice Groups and am based in Pittsburgh. Pier Ferd is a tech-driven, full-service law firm delivering outcomes and shared success for our global clients. At Pier Ferd we strive to provide excellent legal counsel and representation to clients worldwide from 20+ key markets in the US. We specialize in handling complex legal matters and providing solutions to our clients\' most pressing needs. As a Founding Partner in Pierson Ferdinand LLP’s Litigation and Employment, Labor, and Benefits Practice Groups, I provide advice, counsel, and zealous representation to employers in all aspects of employment law, including issues relating to and claims brought pursuant to every major employment statute.I’ve also obtained Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) Certification from the HR Certification Institute, which enables me to assist and partner with my clients in strategic planning and policymaking aspects of HR management.

Every day, clients depend on me for guidance across various matters, spanning from preventive counsel and proactive strategizing to policy formulation, all delivered in a cost-efficient manner. A notable portion of my work focuses on ensuring compliance and handling litigation related to wage and hour regulations under the FLSA and relevant state laws governing compensation practices. This encompasses both individual cases and class/collective litigation.I am skilled in the courtroom when matters escalate to litigation, and I have significant experience litigating and counseling clients on restrictive covenant matters, including hiring and separation issues, and enforcement of non-competes, post-employment customer and employee solicitation agreements, and confidentiality agreements. I also advise executives, physicians, and employers on employment agreements and change-in-control agreements.
