I work with Scottish Ltd Company Director-Owners on the financial decisions that have the biggest long-term impact on what they keep and what they build.I help them address the financial decisions most business owners put off for too long.Exit strategy. Pension planning. IHT. Wealth extraction done properly. Most directors come to me with a well-run business and a personal financial picture that hasn\'t kept pace. My job is to close that gap.How I work:An initial conversation first. No agenda, no pitch, no product. Are we a good fit? I ask the questions nobody else has asked. The whole shape of the situation starts to become visible. From there, a thorough fact find across your business and personal finances: tax position, pension, protection, estate, and exit. Then a cash-flow model. For the first time, you can see what your financial life looks like over the next 10, 20, 30 years. What retirement looks like if the business sells. What it looks like if it doesn\'t. What the IHT exposure is on the current trajectory. What the pension gap is actually costing every year it goes unfilled. Then a prioritised plan, with the highest-value, most time-sensitive action first. The relationship is ongoing and proactive. I am in your corner before a planning window closes, not after.I work closely with your accountant and solicitor. Good outcomes for Director-Owners require a joined-up approach.

ABOUT DAVID MACKAY

You\'ve spent years building your business.Your personal finances haven\'t kept pace with it.That\'s not unusual. The business demands everything. Personal planning gets pushed to \"later.\" And later has a habit of being expensive.I\'m a financial planner working exclusively with Scottish limited company directors. My focus is the gap between your business finances and your personal finances. Most directors treat them as separate things. They\'re not. The decisions you make inside your company directly shape what ends up in your hands, and what ends up with HMRC.Exit strategy. Director pension planning. IHT planning. Wealth extraction done properly. These are the areas where early, coordinated decisions make a significant difference. An ounce of preparation is worth a pound of reaction. My career in financial services and business spans over 20 years. Earlier in that time I spent five years at Bank of Scotland working with business owners turning over £500k to £40 million. I know the scale of what you\'re building and what\'s at stake.I\'m also a limited company director myself. So when I say I understand this from the inside, I mean it.I work in close coordination with accountants and solicitors. The best outcomes for Scottish limited company directors come from a joined-up approach. If any of this sounds familiar, I\'d welcome a short conversation. 20 minutes, no pressure, just a straightforward discussion about whether this is relevant to your situation.Send me a message or follow me for weekly posts on the financial decisions that matter to Scottish business owners.Trusts are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority.John Scott Davidson Ltd is an Appointed Representative of and represents only St. James\'s Place Wealth Management plc (which is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority). The title \'Partner Practice\' is a marketing term used to describe St. James\'s Place representatives.
