ABOUT DAVID CORMACK

I am a Principal Systems Engineer within the Processing Core Design Team at Leonardo UK in Edinburgh, specifically designing target tracking and sensor fusion algorithms for airborne platforms. Most recently, I have been developing longer-term technology roadmaps which will steer the technical direction of products and solutions for the business. As part of my role, I act as an industry supervisor to three PhD students located across the UK and provide coaching and technical direction where necessary. I also have responsibility for maintaining training materials for on-boarding new members into the tracking and data fusion team.I have a PhD in Signal Processing from Heriot-Watt University, with a strong background in target tracking and data fusion, and a number of peer-reviewed, published works. I also sit on a number of NATO panels and provide technical insight and review of material.My preferred programming languages/environments are MATLAB/Simulink and Python, and I am very comfortable with working in Microsoft Office products for producing documents and materials. I feel that I have really strengthened my communication skills over recent years and can present information clearly and logically.
