ABOUT DAVID CHAMANDY
David co-founded and scaled internet dating portal Lavalife Inc, into a first mover social network throughout North America & the Asia-Pacific region. Upon exiting in 2004, he went on to co-found Darwin Dimensions Inc, a Montréal-based CG developer of the web-based avatar generator EVOLVER for online game and feature film, later acquired by Autodesk Inc, in 2011. During this tenure, David began angel investing as Senior Director, Investments at Machkor Capital, a private family office headquartered in Montréal that includes Blockstream, Beyond the Rack, LiveBarn, WAVO.me, and Gamerizon Studios among portfolio holdings. Machkor generally invests in emerging internet, mobile and enterprise based startups in Canada and the United States but also invests opportunistically outside those spectrums. More recently David breifly served as Venture Partner at a local boutique financial advisory (Munich & Hong Kong branches) with over 8 billion in private equity raised and active primarily in healthcare. Independently, David continues to sit or sat on the Boards of Gamerizon Studios, Montréal based seed stage venture fund Real Ventures, and CAMO Plongeon, Canada’s premier springboard diving club and home to past and future Olympians. David and his wife Marie-Hélène are raising a young hockey playing son and a springboard diving daughter and when time permits, plays year round hockey and tennis.
