ABOUT DAVID CATER
I’m passionate about using technology to solve real problems, whether that’s improving customer experience, strengthening governance, or simply making life easier for the people doing the work every day. I get just as much satisfaction from reviewing a process map as I do from delivering a major system rollout (doesn’t everyone?…).As Group Director of Technology and Performance Improvement at Sovini Group, I lead our digital transformation, data strategy, and continuous improvement agenda. I work with a brilliant management team, as well as operational teams across the business, turning complex challenges into practical, people-focused solutions.Recent highlights include:Digital Transformation: Delivered the NEC Housing Management System, replacing four legacy platforms and moving core operations into a secure, scalable cloud environment. Also a key lead in the rollout of Microsoft Business Central and Epicor/BisTrack 2020x to modernise finance and supply chain processes.Cyber Security & Resilience: Embedded Darktrace MDR across 800+ devices and 1,400 users, strengthened governance and DR capabilities, and continued building a proactive security culture across the Group.Data & Analytics: Advanced our data maturity through Microsoft Fabric, Purview, and Power BI — enabling predictive analytics, automated insights, and a growing self-service reporting culture.AI & Innovation: Introduced Microsoft Copilot, launched an internal AI Forum, and developed our AI governance framework to ensure responsible, value-driven adoption.Continuous Improvement: Delivered benefits tracking, performance dashboards, and measurable efficiencies across multiple programmes.Governance & Compliance: Maintained ISO 27001, progressed PCI DSS assurance, and strengthened internal audit and reporting frameworks. What I really enjoy is bridging the gap between business and IT — translating technical complexity into clear options, collaborating across all levels, and helping people see how technology can genuinely support their work. When I’m not exploring new tech or obsessing over data models, you’ll probably find me listening to a podcast (sometimes about leadership… but usually football or golf), watching a webinar, or sharing thoughts on digital transformation and performance improvement. If you\'re interested in technology strategy, transformation, data, or simply talking sport, let’s connect.
