About David Carranza
I am a pharmacoepidemiologist and a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Public Health Service stationed at the National Center for Health Statistics in Hyattsville, Maryland. I hold a BA in political economy and PharmD from the University of the Pacific, an MHSc in public and global health from Tampere University, and a pharmacy license. Before my current position, I was an Epidemic Intelligence Service Officer with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and a visiting researcher at the Finnish Institute for Health and Welfare (Terveyden ja hyvinvoinnin laitos, THL) in Helsinki, Finland, focusing on vaccine hesitancy and public health communication. I have a passion for social science research, mentoring, and clinical practice. Throughout my work and academic experience, I have had the opportunity to conduct research, work in large and small group environments, and hold several leadership positions. I hope to carry these experiences with me for the rest of my career as a public health professional and healthcare provider.
