About David C. Humphreys

For someone who much prefers to talk about the success of his team, initiative or organization, here is a humble attempt of summarizing what you should know about me:1) I’m immensely proud of what I’ve built in my career, the impact the work has had and the legacy I’ve left. From opening up offices and helping organizations succeed in a key part of the world to identifying and shaping policy decision-making in health & beyond, I’ve always sought out opportunities to build something that fill a market need, are sustainable in short & long run and leave a lasting imprint. I’ve done all this being extremely self-motivated, focused on delivering positive results for stakeholders and exceeding employer goals.2) I believe this success has come from the things I’m good at: • Going beyond the work today and developing a strategic vision for tomorrow; • Commercially oriented and great capacity for fundraising, business development; • Building, nurturing and motivating high performing global teams; • Researching, learning, analyzing and communicating relevant insights; • Engaging stakeholders and shaping dialogue around the issues that matter3) While the skills I’ve developed – leadership, commercial, analytical, interpersonal – are all key, I strongly believe that success is also a product of doing things that give me great satisfaction. I enjoy constant learning – about an array of topics, new ways of thinking, creative ways to solve problems, and of course about different cultures. I also get tremendous joy in seeing people develop, reach the goals that matter in their lives and achieve the best versions of themselves. 4) At the heart of all this has been a core set of principles I follow in everything I do – strive for better knowledge and nuanced understanding, focus on a good process and trust that will lead to positive results, empower people to carry out the tasks at hand, speak in a language that connects with the intended audience, show drive and passion through sincerity.5) Many I’ve worked with have used terms like authentic to describe my personal leadership style. For me it’s simply about being human – showing genuine interest in people’s goals and talents, constantly seeking opportunities to guide and teach, encouraging unique approaches to solving problems and putting individuals in position to succeed.
