ABOUT DAVID BURKETT

I am caring physician who treats patients as human beings and not as dollar signs or numbers. Most of my patients are also my friends. I believe in preventative medicine, as well as being as aggressive as possible when there are medical ailments present. I will not stop until I find a diagnosis or I find an appropriate solution. If the ailment is not of cardiac origin, I will proceed with appropriate work up if not already begun. If the solution is not my region of practice, I will get a patient where they need to be! I was in private practice in Monroe, Louisiana, from 20••••13. I transitioned to academic medicine as an Assistant Professor in Cardiology, IM, and Cardiac Electrophysiology with LSU in 2013. I have found Academic Medicine one of the best ways to keep up to date, learn, and practice new ablative techniques, and share my experience with others. I also enjoy the camaraderie of academic medicine, which is often lost in private practice. My passion is RF ablation of atrial fibrillation. I ablate AFIB a bit differently than others, and my success rate is approaching 85%. Most patients are off anti-arrhythmic agents and anticoagulants within 3 months. I also practice general cardiology in addition to cardiac electrophysiology. I enjoy teaching / educating medical students, residents, PA\'s, NP\'s, and Fellows. It satisfies me to help others, but also keeps me up to date on current medical topics / technology. I elected to return to my home state of Texas in July of 2023, and am currently prating with the Cardiovascular Associates of San Antonio.
