The Mayor’s Commission on African American Males (MCAAM) studies the diverse conditions of Black men in Philadelphia. Using its findings, the commission makes yearly reports and recommendations to the Mayor, City Council, and others. The MCAAM aims to effect positive outcomes for Black men and boys.The commissioners come from a variety of professional backgrounds, including:Government.Business.Educational institutions.Health facilities.Labor organizations.Civic organizations.In 2016, a voter referendum made the MCAAM a permanent commission. The Mayor appoints its members.

ABOUT DAVID BUCK
I am a mission-driven public sector leader, nonprofit executive, and advocate for equity and opportunity, with a strong focus on youth development, public safety, and justice reform. With nearly a decade of experience in municipal government and community engagement, I bring a unique blend of policy insight, on-the-ground experience, and lived expertise as a returning citizen and single father.Currently, I serve as Chair of the Public Safety Committee for the Mayor’s Commission on African American Males in Philadelphia, where I help shape policy recommendations that support the well-being and advancement of Black men and boys. I am also the Founder and Executive Director of Bridges of Opportunities, a mentoring and leadership initiative focused on supporting young people from historically underserved communities through trauma-informed care, life skills development, and civic engagement.My work is guided by a deep belief in the power of community, storytelling, and systems change. Whether advising city leaders, developing youth-centered programs, or speaking on issues of reentry, violence prevention, and mental health, I strive to build pathways that lead to healing, growth, and opportunity.Let’s connect to explore how we can collaborate in creating more inclusive, resilient, and just communities.
