IG is a Chicago-based software and controls company that optimizes the operation of battery storage, particularly when paired with solar on behind-the-meter projects at commercial and industrial customers. IG currently dispatches a number of customer batteries into wholesale markets including frequency regulation as well as leveraging the storage to reduce or eliminate customer capacity and transmission grid charges and provide emergency power. With the recent passage of enhanced Investment Tax Credits, now extended to stand-alone batteries, as well as state-level incentives, particularly in Illinois, the timing is right for customers to join in the grid transformation process. Returns are high and the paybacks short on these projects when the revenue streams and bill savings are optimized using IG’s technology.
