ABOUT DAVID BOWCOTT
E - d•••••••@platforminsurance.comC -+14•••••••73David\'s primary focus is utilizing industry leading tools and methodologies to achieve the optimal risk management strategy and profile for his client\'s projects, organizations and built assets. These tools and methodologies are housed within four areas: i) contractual advisory, ii) operational advisory, technology & data advisory, and iv) risk finance advisory. With relationships between construction stakeholders growing more collaborative through changing delivery models, and increased use of built environment technologies, being able to integrate these innovative tools and methodologies into the design, build, finance, operate and maintain lifecycle has created substantial value for David\'s clients. A core outcome from David’s efforts is to help clients, insurers and colleagues better harness the power of data driven risk control decisions to minimize construction project and built environment total cost of risk.Outside of his role at Platform, David is active within various associations (most recently David was a board member with the Canadian Construction Association and the Institute of Asset Management). In addition David plays the following industry roles: Alpaca Venture Capital (Expert Advisor), the Building Ventures Innovators Network, Builtworld’s Adoption Leaders 50, and various think tanks and industry workshops (McKinsey, World Economic Forum, Future of Infrastructure Group). Further, David is a regular contributor to several construction and technology publications including Harvard Business Review, Engineering News Record, On-Site Magazine (columnist), and World Economic Forum Community Reports. Finally, David founded and led Aon’s Technology Assessment Panel (TAP) which sought out risk mitigating built environment technologies and helped clients and insurers implement these technologies within their organizations and their projects.
