ABOUT DAVID BARTON

A thermofluids engineer at Rolls-Royce, dedicated to supporting the development and expansion of sustainable propulsion and power generation. During my time at Rolls-Royce, I’ve had the opportunity to work across the product lifecycle from preliminary design, to inventing a US/UK patent relating to an in-service support method. I have prior experience in the nuclear industry through my placement at Sizewell C in 2021, and manufacturing and electrical engineering experience through my internship at PragmatIC in 2019. Since September 2022, I have been working at Rolls-Royce in a range of areas including Services, Performance, Materials and Manufacturing. I hold MEng First Class honours with Distinction, ranking in the top 13% academically at the Cambridge University Engineering Department. I developed teamwork and leadership skills during two turbulent years representing ~500 undergraduates as Vice President and Acting President of the Union of Clare Students during the pandemic. “David has helped the Sizewell C project to progress on a critical path workstream. I can recommend David for his ability to learn quickly and to deliver project tasks efficiently in a complex environment.” - Olivier Lepoutre - Engineering & Delivery Lead (Nuclear Island) EDF Sizewell C Project 2021 \"David has produced an excellent report that includes interesting, publishable quality results. I expect the research will be written as a journal or conference paper as the findings are important for achieving net zero in future aviation.\"- Cesare Hall - Professor of Aerothermal Engineering Whittle Laboratory, University of Cambridge 2022
