About David Barkett

David W. Barkett founded Barkett Law in 2002. He graduated from Stetson University undergraduate program and University of Mississippi School of Law Juris Doctorate program. Mr. Barkett is a Florida Native and was born and raised in Vero Beach, Florida. Following Law school, Mr. Barkett moved to Central Florida and began his legal career working with Orlando’s oldest law firm and then a large full service state wide, multi-office law firm. At these firms, he gained valuable skill and training in the areas of civil litigation and real estate transactional work. Since opening Barkett Law, Mr. Barkett has been involved in representing lenders and banks in tendering over 350 million dollars worth of loans collateralized by real property. He has also, either through Barkett Law or affiliated companies of which he is the owner, been involved in over 2.0 Billion dollars worth of real estate closings and title insurance issuance from 20••••22, handled over 400 deals exceeding one million dollars and has been involved in over 4,250 commercial and residential real estate transactions serving as either the Buyer or Seller representative, lender representative, title agent, or escrow agent. He has also helped analyze real estate interests for over 600 properties on behalf of taking authorities and municipalities in the construction of gas pipelines and utilities. He has represented owners in the proposed sale of their property to Fortune 500 Companies, REITS, Syndicates and to municipalities, has served as an expert witness on real estate transaction protocol and has been a speaker at numerous seminars regarding various issues relating to real estate law. He is a licensed title agent for Old Republic National Title Insurance Company, Fidelity National Title Insurance Company and Westcor Land Title Insurance Company. Mr. Barkett represents seller and buyers of residential and commercial property, banks, private lenders, developers, investment groups, taking authorities and real estate brokerages and agents in a variety of legal matters involving real estate.
