I lead Costa Coffees UK Property Assets & Estates teams responsible for the strategic strategy for a property portfolio of circa 1520 stores, spanning high street, retail parks, shopping centres, Drive Thru and Travel formats. I am accountable for a total occupancy budget of circa £150m, and circa 200 lease events each year.I maintain a proactive lease strategy that contributes to the annual efficiency plan which has driven efficiency savings from the estate of over £29m over the last 5 years. I have consistently over delivered in this area.I report into the main Costa Board and work cross functionally with key areas of the wider business that include finance, propositions, location planning and the regional operations teams. For two years (2021/22) I was asked to take on responsibility for the Energy & Environment team to included utilities procurement, energy management, energy and water savings, electric vehicle charging, waste and recycling. In the first 12 months we identified new initiatives to drive efficiency savings in areas which included; power capacity reviews, surface water run off and I introduced store energy audits and Power BI dash board reporting for all stores energy usage. I also explored corporate power purchaser agreements (PPAs) but this was not supported by the business at that time. As part of leading this team and to upskill in this area, I decided to broaden my own knowledge base and successfully completed the Cambridge University, Sustainability in Leadership Management course with a pass of 82%.

A qualified Chartered Surveyor with 26 years experience of working within medium to large, listed companies in the UK retail sector, including Costa Coffee, Boots the Chemist and EE.I have considerable experience of managing and leading both teams and providing strategic direction for large retail portfolios across the high street, retail parks, shopping centres, Drive Thru and travel formats.I was the President of the Property Managers Association January 2019 to December 2022, and I am now the current chair for the BRC Property Community subgroup from January 2024.
