ABOUT DAVID ATKINS

My career path, from military service to specialist policing, and now estate planning, has consistently focused on detailed planning, practical problem-solving, and supporting people during critical moments in their lives. I began my working life with seven years of operational service as a non-commissioned officer in the Coldstream Guards, followed by over 25 years with the Metropolitan Police.During my time in the police, I served predominantly within Specialist Operations Command, where I developed a diverse and robust skill set including surveillance, public order, risk assessment, close protection, and firearms operations. This experience cemented my ability to manage complexity, think strategically, and deliver under pressure, all qualities I now bring to my work in estate planning.After completing my police service, I took a planned sabbatical to focus on property development and relocated to rural Shropshire. This period also marked the beginning of my transition into Will Writing and Estate Planning. To support this change, I undertook formal legal training with the CTT Group and CILEX Law, further strengthening my technical competence in this area.I am now part of JP Estate Planning, an award-winning and highly regarded firm established by James Pearson, a STEP Affiliate.
