David Crane was named to the position of Executive Director in 2014. As such, he is responsible for overseeing board, orchestra, government, and community relations, long-range planning, and day-to-day management for Western Virginia’s only professional symphony orchestra. Since his appointment, Crane has worked closely to strengthen every aspect of the organization’s artistic, fiscal, community, governance, and administrative activities. Crane has generated new initiatives including the Wellness Arts program supporting individuals with Alzheimer’s and Dementia while driving significant growth in subscription and single ticket sales revenues, as well as new individual, corporate, and collaborative municipal support programs. Crane’s other innovations at the RSO, include the expansion and creation of concert series including annual Symphony Under The Stars concerts, Parks and Arts collaborations with the City of Roanoke, and the creation of the Star City Arts Festival, a multi-discipline festival solely focused on arts awareness and commerce. Crane’s leadership has resulted in a renewed spirit of support and admiration for the orchestra locally and throughout Virginia.Send me a not to see my full bio.
