What can you do with a psychology degree? For me the answer has been- Coach Diving, produce 3 All-Americans and an NCAA National Champion - Work as a UX Researcher through the PC, Internet, and AI revolutions - Write about AI and get into AI TrainingI just finished my first month on an AI training project. It\'s fun to come up with problems that cause the model to fail and show it the correct answers. I\'m looking forward to more projects like this.I also recently got started on Substack and wrote my first two essays on AI there. I like to use Perplexity to do research and get references, and I recently had my first extensive conversation with Gemini to get help with a research project.I worked as a user experience researcher for over 25 years. I started in 1990 when Windows 3.0 jump-started the PC software boom. I followed my clients from PC software to the web and mobile platforms. A high point in my career was my time working with Jeff Rubin (Author of The Handbook of Usability Testing) at The Usability Group until his retirement from consulting. We had great people on our team and did a lot of good work.I worked with early tech leaders such as Lotus, IBM, Sun Microsystems, and Intuit, and a variety of industry leaders such as FedEx, International Paper, Home Depot, UnitedHealthcare, and ATT.I\'ve retired from UX research work and along with helping out in my local community as an occasional substitute teacher, I\'m tracking the AI revolution, doing some writing, and getting some first-hand exposure with model training. It seems like my degree in psychology and minor in philosophy have become more directly relevant to the work I\'m doing now in AI.
