About Dave Jackson

Dave Jackson is an established thought leader in the management and optimization of mission critical systems and infrastructure. After pioneering key technologies driving the automation of data center, cloud, and HPC, David expanded these concepts to support the evolving telecom and energy industries. He is now focused on improving the sustainability, resilience, security, and efficiency of global energy infrastructure in his role as Chief Operating Officer at The Sun Company. Specifically, he has responsibilities to advance both internal and customer-facing technologies, define product strategy and roadmaps, establish industry-leading quality, support the companies key product divisions, and work with visionaries to accelerate mass adoption of clean and renewable solutions.In 2001, he founded Adaptive Computing and architected an advanced platform capable of intelligently scheduling dynamic workloads in policy-intensive environments. He subsequently matured this technology delivering solutions to many of the world\'s largest HPC users and early cloud adopters including NASA, Boeing, Disney, Exxon, and Bank of America. Over the years, David worked closely with the architects of the world\'s largest compute systems and applied his software to manage the majority of these top 10 systems worldwide. In 2009, Dave drove the effort to deliver the world\'s largest, and arguably most advanced private cloud installation resulting in cost savings of well over $200M for a global leader in the financial services industry.Under Dave’s leadership, Adaptive Computing became the market leader in providing intelligent, policy-driven automation, scheduling and HPC workload management technologies, while evolving Adaptive into a multinational company boasting some of the world’s highest profile customers, including those in the financial, government, and digital media sectors. Through his early pioneering efforts, Dave has been awarded more than 110 patents in resource management, cloud, data center automation, and workload management. Over the past decade, Dave has presented at over 100 conferences and is a contributing author to both books and papers on workload management and systems automation.
