My career started in manufacturing (Gourmet Baker, Great Little Box Company, Bread Garden,) where I acquired an extensive operations knowledge base; understanding the technology, people management, customer relations and to go market strategies required in this highly competitive sector. I have been involved in labour negotiations, supply chain contracts and capital projects in manufacturing businesses with responsibilities of multiple facilities throughout North America. I am a strong leader and team builder with expertise in strategic planning, go to market planning and facility operations. While at the BC Dairy Association, I experienced how food is grown and what life is like on a dairy farm. I engaged with associations in the vegetable, fruit and protein sectors and came to understand the issues and politics specific to this area of agriculture. As a registered lobbyist I addressed both federal and provincial ministers and held numerous media sessions with tv, radio and print agencies to advocate for dairy and agriculture issues.A significant portion of my career involves being a Board of Director for not for profit (BC Food & Beverage and Canadian Centre for Food Integrity), private (FreePoint Technologies and Peqish Foods) and public entity (Naturally Splendid), to learn the importance of fiduciary responsibilities for operating an effective organization. This has made me a better manager and a better person with an intimate understanding for meeting the needs of peoples’ investments, managing market expectations and how to influence proper governance and performance that translates into effective communication and achieving results.Working with Kanzen Capital and Hakken Capital exposed me to the money side of the business: fund raisers, emerging markets and stock market specialists have added an immeasurable quality of knowledge to compliment my food background and I can assist companies to expand their markets; national, international, acquisitive, joint venture, organic growth or transitioning from private into public entities.
