WHAT IS THE CORNWALL MARINE ACADEMY?The Cornwall Marine Academy was created in 2008 to raise awareness of the wide range of career opportunities in the Marine sector, delivering vocational training and work experience to Young People aged 9 to 24 and support their employability and progression onto further education, an Apprenticeship or a job.Over the past 13 years, the CMA has supported more than young people aged 9 to 24 through career advice, taster sessions, vocational training and Pre-Apprenticeships, involving Cornwall Marine Network’s members as volunteer ambassadors to provide meaningful hands-on experiences and industry-led programmes.ABOUT CORNWALL MARINE ACADEMY.Cornwall Marine Network (CMN) created Cornwall Marine Academy (CMA) to find situations to problems reported by local Marine employers when trying to employ Young People for their future workforce.Employers identified insufficient employability skills, young people lacking awareness of career opportunities in the Marine sector, a lack of any meaningful work-experience and a poor work ethic.In response, Cornwall Marine Academy challenged and supported Marine employers to engage in providing solutions to the issue of preparing young people for their future Marine careers.Since 2008, the CMA has delivered careers advice to more than Young People across Cornwall.
