Carolinas AGC, the trusted voice of construction in the Carolinas since 1920, is one of the largest of the Associated General Contractors of America\'s 89 chapters and the only one covering 2 states. CAGC recently was named as AGCA’s Chapter of the Year (among large chapters w $2.5M+ budgets). CAGC is based in Charlotte, with Raleigh & Columbia offices. The full-service association, along with its Board of Directors and Education Foundation, represent 800 member company firms and commercial contractors, specialty contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and service companies. In 2024, CAGC is leading efforts in NC and SC to enact work zone safety legislation. CAGC recently received the PR and Workforce Development AGCA National Awards. Our 22-member staff, including four lobbyists in Raleigh and Columbia, provide unparalleled government relations representation as well as networking via 100+ meetings a year, job leads and industry information, safety/young leaders/open shop programs, and education/training.

   Dave Simpson, CAE, President & CEO, Carolinas AGC (Associated General Contractors).A graduate of The Citadel, Simpson received a master\'s degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri at Columbia. He is a past recipient of the James J. Lowry Award for Outstanding CEO, the highest honor given by the Association Executives of NC.CAGC has received numerous national awards, including AGC\'s Diversity & Inclusion Award in 2022. In 2021, CAGC received 2 AGC Awards - Chapter Public Relations Award to support the construction industry through a $3.75M construction and pandemic grant from the NC General Assembly and a Chapter Workforce Development Award. In 2019, CAGC received the Chapter of the Year among the 89 AGC chapters (for large chapters w $2.5M+ budgets) for its government relations, workforce development, safety, budget and Young Leaders efforts.Simpson currently is on AGC of America\'s Board of Directors and is Chair-Elect of AGC\'s Executive Leadership Council. In 2022-24, he was named to Business NC\'s Power List for influential business leaders. He has been on Boards of the NC Professional Lobbyists Association, AENC, including past president, and he has chaired ASAE\'s political committee. AENC recently awarded Simpson a Lifetime Membership. Simpson, who has served CAGC since 1989, helped lead efforts in enacting legislation in both Carolinas that will save lives concerning underground safety and damage prevention. In 2021, CAGC helped procure from NC lawmakers $5.5 million for its foundation for safety/training efforts. He was named one of the most effective lobbyists in the NC General Assembly.Previously, Simpson was a newspaper reporter for 15 years, covering politics with The News & Observer in Raleigh. He and his wife Denise, a retired schoolteacher, have three married adult children - Ben, an attorney and UNC-CH graduate, Maggie, a social worker and ASU graduate, and Emily, a marketing executive and NCSU graduate - and 5 grandchildren.
