   Works with a team of professionals in Cuyahoga County, Department of Public Works. We utilize collaborative governance involving federal, state, county, townships, cities, and private sectors such as consulting engineers and contractors to serve our customers beyond what we could achieve as a single department.Around 250 professionals are responsible for the following duties and infrastructure. Highway Design and Road Maintenance takes care of the 22 miles of Cuyahoga County Highway maintenance and assists the 59 municipalities in Cuyahoga County. Bridge Design, Bridge Inspection, and Bridge Maintenance repairs, manages the inspection, and makes capital improvements on 208 County bridges and 156 culverts. Sanitary Engineering, Sewer/ Storm Water/ and Pump Station Maintenance operates in 42 Cuyahoga County communities by agreement. This team maintains more than 1,500 miles of sanitary sewers and 1,100 miles of storm sewers and operates 65 sewage-pumping stations. Annual storm and sanitary sewer operating budget is more than $33 million. Sign required plans and documents as the Cuyahoga County Sanitary Engineer.Surveying responsibilities by Ohio Revised Code include county survey monumentation for the purpose of locating land, road lines, or fixing corner monuments. All county survey work in connection with the location, documentation, construction, repair or maintenance of county highways and county bridges. Signs and approves right of way plans and survey plats as the Cuyahoga County Engineer. Road/ Bridge/ and Sewer Construction Engineering and Inspection staff perform construction activities for over $72 million capital construction projects in our 2025 program. They monitor completion dates, construction schedules, materials, standard construction practices, pay estimates, and change orders.
