Lead and manage (53) sworn and (19) professional Staff and oversee a $25 million dollar annual budget of a municipal police department that serves a world-class destination community.Proactively led the agency through a worldwide pandemic and period of significant civil unrest. Addressed and adjusted to community concerns about how police services are provided. Implemented and incorporated contemporary law enforcement programs and processes such as- Recognizing and acknowledging that our most important resources at the MPD are the men and women who serve our community in the law enforcement profession- Ensuring staff are trained, provided contemporary equipment, and supported to utilize independent decision making- Being a part of, understanding, and being responsive to community concerns- An officer Body Worn Camera (BWC) program to augment the in-car video program- Restructuring and implementation of a contemporary web-based policing policy manual- Updating the Internal Affairs (IA) process including on-line technology program that is utilized for IA investigations, employee on-duty accidents, force applications, employee training records and the Field Training Officer (FTO) program- PERF’s Integrating Communications, Assessment, and Tactics (ICAT) de-escalation program- Crisis Intervention Team (CIT) training, to ensure staff properly understand and appropriately interact with those suffering from mental illness- The MPD - Multi-Disciplinary Outreach Team (MDOT), MPD Community Action Team (CAT) and governmental and non-governmental entities that address and provide services to unhoused and others- The implementation of an officer wellness program - RISE- Procuring and implementation of a contemporary Records Management System (RMS)- Procuring and implementation of an Automated License Plate Reader System (ALPR)- Instituted guidelines and best practices from the 2015 President’s Task Force on 21st Century Policing
