ABOUT DAVE HARRIS

Throughout my career, I have been involved in procurement and logistics. This started in the Royal Air Force where I served as a Supplier, then as an Inventory Controller. In my most recent role at ICW Power, I held the position of Procurement Manager for over Nine years. During this time, I amassed qualifications including CIPS Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Purchasing and Supply Operations (on-going), an advanced apprenticeship in Supply Chain Management, CILT Level 3 in Logistics and Transport, and an NVQ 2 in Warehousing and Logistics. I also have a strong track record of managing a large supplier base, reducing lead times and costs, and purchasing products, materials and services to standard, quantity and deadline. Wherever large purchases were involved, or strong supplier partnerships, I negotiated significant discounts and rebates.A natural problem solver, I foresee trends and issues, and respond effectively. I accurately predict demand to ensure there is always the optimum level of operating inventory. When the supply chain fails, I have contingencies with other suppliers, other transport alternatives.As someone who served in the forces, I understand the importance of teamwork. In my role as manager, I motivated, encouraged and empowered my team, recognising the contributions of each individual, giving praise where it was due, and development activities where required or requested.Results-driven, I take great pride in making sure the right supplies are in the right place at the right time, minimising costs without compromising standards. While a procurement role involves parts, products and raw materials, it is really all about people. Good suppliers are worth their weight in gold, so establishing strong relationships is a vital key to success.
